New Tunnel becoming one of the World's steepest slopes!

Glacier 3000 now has up to three large slopes with over 1000m drop: the Combe d’Audon (7 km), Red Run (8 km) and Black Wall.

Officially inaugurated last week (insert date) the Black Wall is set to be every skier’s heaven this season and over the next decade.

It is said that the new 'Black wall' Glacier 3000 is a breathtaking sight to behold - with a maximum gradient of 46 degree(104%) making it one of the steepest groomed slopes in the world. This whooping steep exceeds both the Streif and the Lauberhorn, the daunting alpine ski slopes of Kitzbühel (Austria) and Wengen (Bernese Alps).

According to the press release from Glacier 3000, the steep created a grooming challenge. So much so that it’s initial inauguration date of February 9 was prevented by weather conditions and a snow groomer with almost a 1400m long winch had to be parked in the wall at the top of the slope, in order to freely groom the upper part of the track.

This breath taking track is located in the Prestigous Pierres Pointes sector and had been used for skiing from 1963 to 1999 when it was served by a gondola.

The launch of “Black Wall” is also a big step in forward planning, as global warming makes the future of skiing on the Tzanfleuron Glacier unsure.

Ski enthusiasts will be able to try out the new slope until the end of this ski season - May 7, 2023 and plan ahead for the coming seasons.
